An early transfer takes you to the airport for the 35-minute mountain flight to Lukla's Tenzing-Hillary Airport (flights may operate via Ramechhap in peak season, or a private helicopter transfer can be arranged). From Lukla, the trail descends gently through pine forest and Sherpa hamlets along the Dudh Koshi river to Phakding, where your first luxury lodge awaits with hot showers and river-view dining.

The trail crosses the Dudh Koshi repeatedly on high suspension bridges, including the iconic Hillary Bridge, before entering Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo. A steady climb through blue pine forest brings your first glimpse of Everest's summit plume before you reach Namche Bazaar, the amphitheater-shaped capital of the Khumbu.

After a leisurely breakfast, hike up to the Everest View Hotel (3,880m) for coffee facing Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Descend via Khumjung village with its Hillary school and monastery, then spend the afternoon exploring Namche's bakeries, gear shops, and the Sherpa Culture Museum before returning to your lodge.

A rocky trail alongside the Khumbu Glacier brings you to Gorak Shep, the last settlement, where you check in before the round-trip to base camp.
